| Your bait choice for
your carp fishing holiday depends a lot on your venue but boilies, pellets
and particle baits are the staple diet on most fisheries and are readily
taken from the first introduction. There are loads of carp fishing bait
companies out there and the choice can be a bit overwhelming for the novice.
A good tip is to flick through the carp publications and see what baits
are doing the business. On the boilie front the fishmeal based baits are a good choice on your carp fishing holiday, they work very well in the warm water abroad as the fish oils leak very well from a fishmeal bait and this attracts the carp down to the baited area. The same goes for oily pellets. A good tip is to use baits of varying sizes in your swim to add a bit of variation and keep the carp searching. Pop up boilie hookbaits are also worth a try especially if you are fishing over debris or weed/silt or at range as a single hookbait. Pop-ups can also be glugged up in dips to ehance pulling power. Particle (seed and nut) baits such as hemp, tiger nuts, maize etc can also be very useful baits to take on your carp fishing holiday, you buy these ready prepared in tins or jars or buy them unprepared in sacks and soak/boil them on the bank. Small particle baits will keep carp in your swim as they search around for the tiny grains, if your venue has a large head of carp particle baits are a good way to get the fish competing for food which can make them feed heavily and without caution. Groundbaits can also be useful in certain baiting situations applied using a method feeder, PVA sticks or balled up. Redy prepared groundbait can be bought from bait dealers or your boilies/pellets can be ground down in a food blender to form a groundbait. There are also dog foods which can be used as groundbait that can be purchased from most pet stores. Think carefully about your bait and quantities for your carp fishing holiday before you go and be prepared for different fishing senarios, don't overbait straight away as the best strategy will be to steadily apply the bait over the session depending on the action you are recieving.. |
